A Season of Change at Connecticut Kidney & Hypertension Specialists

As the weather cools and the leaves begin to change colors, we are reminded that fall is a season of transition. Our practice is experiencing exciting changes too.

We’re thrilled to welcome back Deanna Michaud, PA-C, who rejoins our care team this month. Deanna has been an invaluable provider in the pa

st, and our patients will once again benefit from her expertise, energy, and compassion.

At the same time, we say a warm farewell to Ashley Steinis. Her dedication to our patients has meant so much, and she will be truly missed. We wish her the very best in her next chapter.

Looking ahead, the new year will bring the retirement of Dr. Bill Handelman. For decades, he has been a cornerstone of our practice—leading with skill, compassion, and vision.  His decades of service, leadership, and compassion have left a lasting mark on our community.  His legacy of excellence and culture of care will continue to shape our work for years to come. We are profoundly grateful for all he has built here.

We’re also excited to announce the return of Dr. Paul Pronovost, formerly Chair of Nephrology at Temple Medical. He will rejoin us at the Torrington office, stepping into Dr. Handelman’s role. We know our patients will be in excellent hands and are confident this transition will be seamless. Dr Pronovost will begin seeing patients in February 2026 in the Torrington location.

Change is in the air, but one thing remains constant: our commitment to providing the very best  care for our patients and community.
